Sao Paulo welcome back Pato

Alexandre Pato is set to make his return as Sao Paulo seek improvement from their opening matchday defeat in Copa Libertadores.

Sao Paulo will be able to call upon leading striker Alexandre Pato for Wednesday’s Copa Libertadores Group Two clash with Danubio.

Pato – on loan from Brazilian rivals Corinthians – was ineligible as his parent club easily accounted for Sao Paulo 2-0 last week.

Sao Paulo were played off the park by Corinthians away from home as the hosts made a winning start to their Copa Libertadores campaign thanks to Elias and Jadson.

Muricy Ramalho’s men, however, have been boosted by the imminent return of Pato, who bagged a brace in Sao Paulo’s 4-0 drubbing of Osasco Audax on Saturday.

Another Bou hat-trick sees Racing win

Gustavo Bou scored another hat-trick as Racing Club cruised past Guarani 4-1 in the Copa Libertadores on Tuesday.

Gustavo Bou struck his second consecutive hat-trick in the Copa Libertadores as Racing Club continued their perfect start to the group stage.

Racing defeated Guarani 4-1 in Buenos Aires on Tuesday to move to six points in Group Eight, four clear of second-placed Sporting Cristal, with Bou backing up his treble away to Deportivo Tachira last week with another hat-trick.

Sporting were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Tachira.

Copa Libertadores Review: Pato´s streak continues

Sao Paulo striker Alexandre Pato continued his scoring spree in his side’s 4-0 win over Danubio in the Copa Libertadores on Wednesday.

Alexandre Pato opened his Copa Libertadores account with a brace on Wednesday, inspiring Sao Paulo to their first continental win this season.

The 25-year-old striker continued his February scoring spree, notching his eighth goal in six matches in all competitions as Sao Paulo thrashed Danubio 4-0.

Pato, who is on loan from Sao Paulo’s city rivals Corinthians, struck twice in the first half, while Reinaldo and Jonathan Cafu added goals after the break to see off their Uruguayan visitors.
